Pam Atkinson, consumer economics educator for the University of Illinois Extension for Livingston, McLean and Woodford counties, suggests people start pulling together documents detailing income and deductions as well as adding up receipts. She also said getting the last pay stubs of the year and estimating your income and taxes paid along with making an early appointment with a tax preparer or purchasing tax software. Atkinson also suggests people file their taxes as early as possible.
