One of WJEZ’s own, along with another prominent local businessman have been named to the front office staff of the Midwest Professional Basketball League’s Pontiac 66ers.

Mark Myre was named the general manager, with Steven “Buzz” Zeller as his assistant.

The duo also named the head coach to the team. Myre said Durrell Robinson comes to the Pontiac 66ers after coaching the MPBA’s Gateway Steam.

“We’re really excited about Coach Robinson. He’s in the class room, out of the classroom, on the floor – he comes from an NBA background with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He will have some solid players and some area players. We will hold open tryouts. We’re looking for an assistant coach. We’re looking to get involved with the community. It’s all tied in to the community and the county,” Myre said.

Myre, Zeller and others involved with the establishment will be guests on Community Forum early next week to discuss other breaking details.
