A special balloon launch to remember the life and legacy of the late Pontiac Police Officer Casey Kohlmeier is set to take place Friday evening.

Kerri Jo Schmidt, Kohlmeier’s mother, was a guest on a recent Community Forum and talked about remembering her son.

“One of the things I really want people to do is not think about what we lost with Casey and Draco (their deaths), but think of all the things we’ve gained with having them in our lives,” Schmidt said.

The launch will take place at Pontiac’s Southside Cemetery at 5:30. Balloons will be available, although people are welcome to bring their own.
