In preparation for upcoming holidays, the Livingston County Health Department is urging people to get their flu shots on or before November 11.

It takes a flu vaccine two weeks to become fully effective and getting one before Veterans Day on November 11 will ensure that.

The vaccine is available at the health department located on Torrance Avenue in Pontiac. Walk-ins are welcome. The cost is $35 and the department will bill most private or employee insurance plans.

The CDC recommends everyone six months of age or older get the flu vaccine.
