One of the many balloons sent up into the sky recently to remember a young man who lost his life too early was not only discovered in an unlikely place, but the message returned from the person who discovered it.
A balloon that was part of a launch to remember seven year old Blake Siefers, who passed in a bicycle versus car accident in June of 2014 landed in Denmark. A young lady found the balloon October 21 and the family chose to respond to the message from Blake’s dad, which was written on it.
Blake’s mother, Carmen Rodriguez, said his family releases balloons as a way to remember her son and the fact that it made it halfway around the world is a testament to his spirit.
“To get the news that someone had found the balloons 4250 miles away was literally shocking. I can’t put into words the feeling that it brings of warmth inside that is memory is being kept alive through word of mouth even that far away,” Rodriguez said.
What makes this so incredible is with all the balloon releases around the world on a regular basis, it’s not often we hear about balloons that land this far away with replies coming back to those who released the balloons.
