Fairbury is coming together to help a family in need Thursday.
A chicken dinner to benefit 16-year-old Brent Edelman will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at Prairie Central High School.
Edelman was diagnosed with a very rare form of Leukemia last April and has spent a lot of time at St. Francis in Peoria and the Mayo Clinic.
His friends and teachers speak highly of the junior, who was recently an attendant on the homecoming court and his friend, Tyson Stork, said it’s nice seeing him starting to enjoy some of the things he’s missed out in the last couple months.
“I was one of his really close friends. We used to go fishing together and play basketball. He can’t really be that active, but now, one thing he does fine is to go fishing. He really loves that and I’ve been able to go with him a couple times,” Stork said.
The dinner will consist of a quarter grilled chicken, baked potato, green beans, cornbread muffin, ice cream sundae and a drink. Carryouts will be available.
