District 6 State Police is releasing more information about the fatal shooting in Long Point Sunday.

According to a press release, 58-year-old David C. Slayton of Streator was arrested and is being held at the LaSalle County Jail. He will be arraigned today.

His arrest stems from a domestic situation that resulted in the fatal shooting of 73-year-old Samuel E. Murphy of Long Point Sunday afternoon in rural Long Point.

The investigation of the incident is ongoing.
