With Independence Day being one of the deadliest holidays when it comes to drunken driving, measures are being taken to make it safer for everyone.
The Illinois Department of Transportation, along with state and local police, are joining forces with “Drive Sober or get Pulled Over.”
This initiative began June 22 and will continue through July 5. During this time, law enforcement will crack down on drunken driving and seatbelt law violators. Roadside safety checks and hundreds of additional patrols will be dispatched throughout the state.
