Congressman Adam Kinzinger appeared on Fox and Friends to take the Obama administration to task, accusing the president of pulling away from the war on terror for the sake of cementing his own legacy. Kinzinger was reacting to the release of 5 Yemeni prisoners who were released from the detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, earlier this month. The congressman says the releases are part of what he sees as a disturbing trend. “The administration is trying to unilaterally withdraw from the war on terror,” Kinzinger said. “That’s obviously what’s happening. Al Queda doesn’t know that, ISIS doesn’t think the war on terror is over, but the president has made it clear—he wants his legacy to be getting America out of war.” Kinzinger went on to say that the administration’s position doesn’t mesh with his view of the current situation. “You can’t, you know, wish a “unicorn and rainbows” world that doesn’t exist,” Kinzinger said emphatically. “And right now we live in a dangerous world that wants to kill all of us and all of your viewers.” Kinzinger was asked about his opinion on the state of things in Iraq. He believes the war could have been won a few years ago, but now too much ground has been lost.
