For the final weeks of open enrollment on the health insurance exchange, Get Covered Illinois has installed a comparison shopping tool on its website.
Some people will need help narrowing the choices, because there are so many, says Jennifer Koehler, director of Get Covered Illinois. “We saw a significant increase in the number of plans being offered on the marketplace this year. We have over 400 plans to choose from and an increase in the number of carriers and we’re trying to help consumers make the best decision given that landscape,” she said.
The tool is called Consumer’s Checkbook, and it’ll help customers compare prices and options based on their particular needs, and to make sure they understand what they’re buying.
There’s also phone and in-person help for people who want it. Open enrollment in plans on the Health Care.gov website ends Feb. 15.
