Our Favorite Term of 2014

Move over, “selfie”, there’s a new slang term in town!  In 2014, The Oxford English Dictionary added several new words to their book including this WJEZ favorite, “al desko”.  A tragically comical play off of the Italian term, “al fresco”, al desko means quite the opposite.  Instead of “eating in the fresh air” like our Italian friends, us Americans prefer to eat lunch in the privacy of our own work desk.  Now, there’s nothing funny about working through your lunch break, but hopefully the new term will at least put a smile on your face next time you inevitably find yourself eating al desko.
