When it comes to November housing sales, there’s good news and bad news. The Illinois Association of Realtors reports that the average price of a home sold in November was up nearly 7 percent when compared to the same time a year ago. The bad news is that the number of homes sold decreased by nearly 10 percent when compared to 2013 figures. Statewide, the average price of a home in November was 155-thousand dollars. Just under 10,000 homes were sold.
Twenty-eight of 102 counties in Illinois showed annual home sales increases in November 2014. Fifty-two counties showed year-over-year median price increases including Kankakee, up 21.1 percent to $119,900; McLean, up 10.1 percent to $161,243; Lake, up 9.6 percent to $183,950; Cook, up 8.9 percent to $183,000; and Rock Island, up 3.6 percent to $107,000.
