Younger women diagnosed with late stage breast cancer on the rise

A staggering increase in the rate of metastatic breast cancer in younger women just came out shocking everyone! What is the cause, why are younger women being diagnosed with advanced stage breast cancer?

The increase of women age 25 to 39 went up over 2% since 1976 while this upward trend was not seen in older women. Could it be that this group falls under some pretty negative resources? No recommended routine screening, the least amount of health insurance coverage and the most years to live. Sadly, more and more young women are being diagnosed with tumors that have spread to the bone, the brain and the lungs, but why? Is it because diagnostic testing is better? Is it because we have learned how to self-exam better? Is it the use of alcohol and drugs? Is it plain old genetics? Some say it is because more younger women are on birth control now than in 1976.

Whatever the reasons, we need to figure out how to detect this sooner! Just like with any cancer, the sooner, the better. Some of these cancers are just very invasive, proving that when you are due for a mammogram or it’s time to self exam, do it! It really could save your life!
