The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm WARNING for the entire WJEZ listening area starting at 9 o’clock this morning and lasting until midnight. The evening commute today is expected to be particularly treacherous, and authorities are recommending not traveling unless absolutely necessary. Relatively high winds should accompany the storm as well, creating blowing snow conditions in some areas. 4 to 8 inches of snow and sleet is expected by tonight. If you must travel, it's recommended that you carry a fully-charged cell phone, food, water, and extra clothing. Delays are expected at the major Chicago airports, so if you're planning on air travel, contact your airline for specific scheduling changes.
