Today’s big news is the severe weather situation in Livingston County. The Flash Flood warning remains in effect until today at 2, but could be extended if we continue to get downpours. We are also under a Flood Warning for the county until Noon. We could see an additional 1 to 2 inches today that could compromise already full creeks and ditches in low lying areas.
If you take a drive out in the country like I do everyday, you see a large amount of water standing in the fields which can spillover to the roadways. I can’t stress enough that if you see water across the road, turn around! You have no idea how deep that may be, even if it looks shallow, you can get yourself into trouble very quickly!. We are also in a Flood Watch through 7am tomorrow along with a River Flood Watch through 7:45 in the morning. Flood stage of the Vermilion is 14 feet and although we are under that now, if this keeps up at the rate it has been we could see the river swell to 15 feet, so be very cautious!
