Medicare Part D open enrollment ends in mid-December, and it’s important for participants to check the plan they have to make sure it fits their needs. Shelley Hunt is with the Livingston County office of P.A.T.H., and says reviewing medicare coverage annually is a good idea, because even small changes can affect coverage. For example, medicare can change its agreements with insurers, and those insurers might also change their agreements with pharmaceutical companies. Any of these changes might mean higher premiums. According to Hunt, A tool available at medicare.gov can make the process easier. It's a simple calculator that lets users enter basic information. The website then returns the names of the best insurers for that person's situation. More information is available by dialing 2-1-1. PATH stands for Providing Access to Help. It’s a clearing house for information on a variety of social services.
