The most looked-up words of 2012 may surprise you

It’s official! Merriam-Webster has announced its most-looked-up words of 2012 and we have the Presidential election to thank for them!

The amount of times the words socialism and capitalism were looked up doubled this year over last year! Doubled! Apparently, we forgot just exactly what those two words meant. It was time for an economic refresher course for some us, proving we are paying more attention to the economy than some lawmakers are!

Other words we needed to be reminded of were democracy, globalization, marriage, malarkey, touché, professionalism and bigot. I think these words say a lot about the election, but also where we are as a nation, don’t you?
