In a weekend that saw a horrific tragedy in Connecticut, it seems Americans went to the movies in order to slip away from the ugliness that had occurred. The Hobbit took the #1 spot at the box office bringing in over $84 million. Rise of the Guardians came in second and Lincoln third.

ABC is working on a sitcom based on the life and times of teeny-bopper, Justin Bieber. Enough said.

Denise Stapley emerged as the sole survivor on CBS’ Survivor last night. It is unclear if anyone watched the finale as there was kind of a big football game on.

You will be relieved to know that Lindsay Lohan has finally thanked Charlie Sheen for paying a $100 grand of her tax bill. She sent him flowers. I am sure he loved them.

Kelly Clarkson’s love life has been chronicled quite well in her career, but now, she may actually have a happy ending or a happy beginning I should say. The pop star and original American Idol became engaged to her boyfriend, the step-son of Reba McEntire! She announced her engagement over the weekend and Twitter. 30 year-old Kelly and 35 year-old Brandon have been dating for a year. Brandon’s dad is not only married to Reba, he is also Kelly’s manager.
