Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan says some Illinoisans who’ve recently faced foreclosure are still eligible for legal action, but only for a few more days. Madigan says the National Mortgage Foreclosure Settlement offers some relief to anyone who faced foreclosure between 2008 and 2011, and who did business with any of the following lenders: Ally Bank (formerly GMAC), Citi, Bank of America, J.P. Morgan-Chase, or Wells Fargo.
Madigan says about half of those eligible in Illinois have already signed up. Anyone who wants more details can visit nationalmortgagesettlement.com. The deadline for registration is Friday. After that time, the option for signing up will expire.
