Heartland Community College has a text messaging system available for students, and it's an important aspect of student safety. Heartland CC Associate director of Marketing and Public Information, Josh Reinhart, says the system exists to make students aware of emergencies, but it's also being utilized for closures or class adjustments brought about by severe weather. Having text alerts sent to your mobile device is just a matter of signing up for the service, and Reinhart says that's available at Heartland.edu.
