Like many members of the G.O.P., Illinois Congressman Aaron Schock of Peoria says gun control legislation is wrong-headed. Schock says there’s nothing in the discussion conducted by Vice-President Joe Biden that will prevent tragedies like the incident in Connecticut last year. Schock says he’s heard from several constituents who say they can’t get access to the mental health services they need, and Schock says he’s planning on introducing legislation later this year to correct that situation. Schock has been mentioned in several surveys of possible Illinois gubernatorial candidates.
