Oz was both great and powerful

Rarely does this happen, in fact, I have actually done it twice in the past 9 months, prior to that it had been years! But over the weekend I went to the movies again! You know I have to be really interested in order to venture out, waste, two hours of my busy day and pluck down $24, but Oz the Great and Powerful seemed like a good one to take a chance on. And so it was!

I am a huge fan o the original Wizard of Oz, so big in fact that I pushed that off on my children especially my oldest who spent about three years of her life pretending to be Dorothy. We went through about three sizes of gingham dresses and ruby slippers; there is probably still red glitter in distant corners of the house.

So, the girls and I ventured out in the rainy gloom of a Sunday where we had already lost an hour of sleep, so a boring movie wasn’t going to fare well with the Coppinger girls. Luckily, the fact that we paid extra for 3D helped the parts of the movie that were slow. I could have easily done without about a half an hour of the movie, however I do realize that they were meticulously setting up the back-story. Like in the original, the Wizard lands in Oz and people from his past are now reincarnated as new characters. I think the movie holds very true to the story and carries the same vibe as the first. If you are a fan of the original, I think you will like this one. The girls and I did! Our only complaint was the length. But hey, it was the number one movie over the weekend for a reason!
