There’s still time for Livingston County parents to get their 4th and 5th graders involved in Operation Snow Flurry. Tiffany Yoder, a prevention specialist with the Institute for Human Resources in Pontiac, says Operation Snow Flurry is a day of activities that helps kids make positive choices in their lives. The day includes games that help build leadership skills, and group activities that help make kids more comfortable talking about the issues in their lives, especially substance abuse pressures. The event is part of a tradition in Livingston county that’s been going on for over 25 years.
Operation Snow Flurry takes place tomorrow at Westview Elementary in Fairbury, where registration begins at 8:30. Activities start at 9 and run until 2:30. Registration forms are available at most schools, or online at prairiecentral.org under the Westview link. There is a small registration fee. Another event for slightly older kids comes up in the Spring. The Institute for Human Resources can answer questions at 815-844-6109.
