Pontiac Mayor Bob Russell has issued a proclamation declaring February 19th MOSAIC day. MOSAIC is a nationwide organization that’s provided services to the developmentally disabled in Livingston County for the last 30 years.
The history of the organization stretches back a century to its origins in Nebraska in 1913. Through a series of developments, the organization grew and expanded its mission of providing services to those in need through a home environment rather than institutionalization. Pontiac occupies a special place in the organization’s history because homes established in Livingston County were the first located east of the Mississippi River.
A 100th birthday celebration is slated for February 19th at 12:30 at 1st Lutheran Church. The public is invited to attend.
