Taking a look back on 2012, we see some pretty profound things occur and some things just pop culture worthy. We started the year with the New York Giants winning the Super bowl in February, this year, they didn’t even make into the playoffs!
We said good-bye to pop diva Whitney Houston who, at 48 years-young, was found dead in her hotel room in February.
In June, Johan Santana of the New York Mets, surprisingly pitched the club first-ever no-hitter! First ever!
In entertainment news, Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise divorced! Like nobody saw that coming! We saw horror take place in a Colorado movie theater when a gunman began shooting during the showing of The Dark Knight Rises. In a mere 90 seconds, 12 people were shot dead while 58 lay injured!
We saw President Barack Obama re-elected to a second term after a sometimes ugly race between he and GOP candidate Mitt Romney.
We saw more tragedy strike on the East Coast with Hurricane Sandy; killing at least 253 people and causing an estimated $65.6 billion dollars in damages! Then another Sandy came into our consciousness at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut when a 20 year-old gunman forced his way into the school after killing his own mother at home. He took the lives of 20 innocent first-graders and 6 teachers and administrators of the school before taking his own life!
We end the year with the words fiscal cliff on our lips and putting our faith into our government not let tax cuts expire tomorrow and possibly throw us back into another recession! I don’t know about you, but I am just starting to recover from the last one!
