Marty Fannin was selected last night as the new chair of the Livingston County Board. Fannin was nominated for the leadership post along with Tim Shafer and newcomer Carolyn Gerwin. A first vote didn’t garner any candidate enough votes to win the seat, so Gerwin withdrew her name, and Fannin was selected by a vote of 13 to 10. When it comes to the challenges facing the board, Fannin says it’s not hard to recognize the board’s top concern--the budget, with borrowing a particular area of focus. In other action, Carl Borngasser was selected vice-chair. Committee appointments will be made this week and posted to the county website—Livingstoncountyil.gov.
