Yesterday we all heard the news that Pope Benedict is planning to retire at the end of the month. He will be 86 in April and says he is just too tired to continue to serve the church in the capacity that he believes he should.
Now, you need to understand that in 600 years, we have not had a Pope step down. The last time this happened was in 1415! This is a forever job for these men of the cloth meaning they die as the current Pope. Benedict decided it was time to change all that up and step down while he still had breath in his body.
The church is reeling from his announcement, but the important question is, what does God think about this? I may have your answer. Just hours after the Pope made his announcement to retire, lightening struck St. Peter’s Basilica! There’s your sign.
