The country is about to change. Life as we know it will cease to exist August 1st, 2013. Announced this morning, the United States Postal Service will discontinue Saturday deliveries of first class mail! No more junk mail, no more birthday cards, no more bills! This is the end of something that began in 1863, when Abraham Lincoln was president of the United States of America!
The Postal service expects to save billions of dollars by cutting Saturday service. They will continue package delivery as it has seen a boost in sales. You will continue to receive prescription delivery as well. The reason for cutting Saturday delivery isn’t so your local postman or post woman can have a two-day weekend, but Saturdays have the lowest volume and a third of US businesses are closed on Saturdays making it an easier transition. How do you feel about the post office stopping Saturday deliveries? Let us know on Facebook.
