The Mythbusters guys and director James Cameron joined forces to find out whether or not Jack Dawson could have actually survived his ordeal in the icy waters of the Atlantic after the Titanic sank! Cameron said that after the release of the movie in 3D last spring, he had been getting emails from people saying that Jack could have floated on that piece of paneling right along with Rose, then they both would’ve have been saved and lived happily ever after!

So, he decided to turn to the experts, Savage and Hyneman, to find out just what would have happened in real-life. Wait, Jack and Rose weren’t real? Anyway, after three different types of tests, the crew found out that if Rose’s lifejacket would have been tied onto the paneling, that the two of them could have indeed floated for the 63 minutes it took for Rose to be rescued!

I knew it! It was a conspiracy on Cameron’s part to make Jack die! Duh? That lended to the tragedy of the film! Do we really want Jack to live? I mean seriously, can you see them getting married and having a wonderful life?
