Illinois Company Reclaims 8.1 Million Dollars from State Government
10:20AM Tuesday
September 25, 2012

State Treasurer Dan Rutherford presented an 8.1 million dollar check to a Lake Forest company yesterday. When it comes to corporate affairs, that may not sound like much money until you consider that the money was part of the state’s unclaimed property program. In 1996, Tenneco, Inc. of Lake Forest purchased another company and somehow over 8 million dollars in assets wound up unclaimed. This figure marks the largest unclaimed amount ever recovered, and Rutherford says it’s his pleasure to correct the issue. He says anyone can check for unclaimed assets waiting to be returned. Icash.Illinois.gov has more information.
