Illinois Commission Says MLK, Jr. Day Should be a Day of Service

One state agency is encouraging Illinoisans to use Martin Luther King, Jr. Day as a time to commit themselves to service and volunteerism. The Serve Illinois Commission is part of the State Department of Human Services, and commission deputy director Scott McFarland says service was one of King’s strongest messages.
