Living a healthy life with Type 2 Diabetes is possible, and the Livingston County Public Health Department is offering a class that will help people understand how it's done. The classes are slated to begin in March in Forrest and in Flanagan, with sessions starting in April in Pontiac.
Groups will meet once a week for six weeks, and LCPHD Health Educator Lori Lake says the classes aren't dry lectures or video presentations. She says the classes feature a high level of interactivity and discussion, guided by two trained instructors. Each class will be led by a professional health educator as well as a person living with diabetes, and both come to the class with special training in diabetes education.
Thanks to a grant from the Illinois Department of Public Health there is no charge for the sessions, but registration is required. The Livingston County Public Health Department can provide information and help with registration at 844-7174.
