City Council discusses downtown parking
City Council discusses downtown parking

Downtown parking was a popular topic at last night’s Pontiac City Council meeting. Mayor Scott McCoy casted the tie breaking vote to deny a request from property owner Bob Kinas to expand the outside dining area near DeLong’s Casual Dining. Some city council members, like Frank Panno, thought it would be a good idea to expand the patio, to help increase downtown activity.

In other matters last night, the Pontiac City Council granted permission for Country Financial to use Fell Park in June for family events. They also granted a request from Guy Pierce to add a second driveway at 325 South Oak. A bid was awarded to Opperman Construction for work on Washington Street and the council authorized a pickup truck purchase for the street department. Also last night, Robin Bohm was named police corporal, Ryan Hanson was sworn-in as a firefighter and Brett Graves was named fire lieutenant.
