Woman to camp out on nursing home roof
Woman to camp out on nursing home roof
An area woman will carry on a summer tradition, this weekend. Connie Cook, an employee of Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, will hold her third annual camp out for a cure to help find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease. Cook will start her fundraiser today at Barker Cadillac GMC in Bloomington and she’ll then move to the roof of the Meadows home on Saturday, where she’ll camp out until reaching the $20,000 goal. Cook holds the fundraiser to raise awareness of the disease, which took the life of her father in 2005. Cook says when she reaches her goal, she’ll let the residents and staff at the Meadows Mennonite Home shave her head. To donate, you can send checks payable to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of Connie Cook, P.O. Box 12 in Fairbury, 61739.  Also, Chucks Harley Davidson in Bloomington will hold the first annual “Remember When” motorcycle ride on Saturday to recognize Alzheimer’s Disease. The motorcycles will escort Cook to Meadows from Bloomington.
