Police beef up patrols after shooting incident
Police beef up patrols after shooting incident
A week and a half after shots were fired outside the Pontiac County Market Store, police have stepped-up patrols in the area. Pontiac Police Chief Dale Newsome told the city council last night that the extra patrols are paying off. Pontiac resident Eugene Ellis lives near Fell Park and is concerned with the increased violence in the area. Chief Newsome says he doesn’t believe the recent incident near County Market has anything to do with the skate park. In other matters last night, the Pontiac council: granted a request for DeLong’s Casual Dining to expand the outdoor patio for the upcoming Heritage Days celebration. They also approved zoning variances to allow Janet Hurt to remove area required as off-street parking and to allow Harry Eaton to subdivide a lot which currently has two principal buildings on property at 504 North Walnut Street. The city also approved façade work for the Mill Street Tap on North Mill Street and a building owned by Lane Lindstrom on Howard Street.
