Closing statements underway in wind farm hearing
Closing statements underway in wind farm hearing
The company that wants to develop a wind farm between Odell and Emington presented closing statements Thursday night to the Livingston County Zoning Board of Appeals. Mike Massie with Iberdrola Renewables said this is the “right time, right team and right place" for the Streator Cayuga-Ridge South Wind Farm. Zoning Board temporary chairman Steve Walters says last night’s hearing was different from previous ones. Zoning Board member Michael Cornale of Dwight wondered whether or not the county is guaranteed tax money from the project. He also suggested that the landowners be responsible for removing the towers from their property, when the time comes. The board reviewed the special use conditions and the meeting has been continued to Monday night at 7, also in the Pontiac High School Auditorium. The Livingston County Board’s Ag and Zoning Committee is expected to consider the special use permit at its meeting on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the county’s Public Safety Complex in Pontiac.
