Several hospitalized in rural crashes

Livingston County Sheriff’s Police were busy Tuesday, after responding to some rural crashes. The first occurred north of Fairbury in Avoca Township at 7:54 a.m. Police say 30-year-old Sara Vanover of Chatsworth was driving a ’98 Plymouth Breeze west on County Road One Thousand North when she pulled out in front of a ’97 Chrysler Seibring, driven by 26-year-old Tammy Nichols of Fairbury. Vanover was cited for failing to yield at a stop intersection. Vanover and Nichols were both taken to St. James Medical Center for injuries, along with passengers in Vanover’s car, 13-year-old Brittney May of Chenoa and 18-year-old Amanda Marrero of Chenoa. Everyone was released from the hospital, except Vanover, who was transferred to St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, where her condition has not been released.

Police also responded to a crash after 5 p.m. Tuesday in Eppards Point Township, south of Pontiac. 22-year-old Jenny Wenger of Fairbury was reportedly driving a 2005 Dodge Stratus north on County Road 17 Hundred East when she went through a stop sign, striking a 2001 Ford Ranger, driven by 34-year-old Stefanee Bender of Fairbury. Bender’s truck then rolled over twice. Wenger was cited for disobeying a stop sign. The crash caused damage to a tree and bush belonging to John Pfaff. Wenger refused medical treatment, whide Bender and a passenger, 33-year-old Cara Russell of Fairbury, were taken to St. James Medical Center where they were later released.
