Ottawa man accused of leading police on chase could plea
Ottawa man accused of leading police on chase could plea

An Ottawa man facing a number of Livingston County charges could enter a plea later this month. Chance Weed is accused of leading police on a high-speed chase in January, which resulted in a head-on crash with a squad car. Police say Weed stole gas from a Dwight Amoco station. His car was later spotted on I-55 by Pontiac Police. Weed kept driving to the Dwight exit, lost control, and slammed head-on into a Dwight squad car on Route 17. Two Dwight Police officers were hospitalized for injuries. Weed’s hearing was delayed in Livingston County Court this morning since the state does not yet know the total restitution Weed must pay, if he does plead guilty. The hearing’s been continued to May 29.
