Tree pest remains a threat to area
Tree pest remains a threat to area

The University of Illinois Extenion is offering some tips regarding the spread of the Emerald Ash Borer. EAB symptoms to look for in ash trees include a gradual decline and dieback in the crown of the tree, the yellowing of leaves, an “S” shaped feeding track under the bark, or woodpecker damage with random, large feeding holes. Throughout the state, monitoring traps have been placed by personnel from the Illinois Department of Agriculture. EAB is a slow-spreading insect, with adults able to fly only about a half mile per year. Suspected EAB infestations can be reported to your local county extension office. The toll-free hotline for reporting the pest is: 1-800-641-3934.
