Mixed reaction among Fairbury residents on alcohol issue
Mixed reaction among Fairbury residents on alcohol issue
There’s still mixed reaction on a decision to allow alcohol during the upcoming Fairbury Funfest celebration. Drinking will be allowed during a street dance in June in downtown Fairbury and that has several people talking. Fairbury resident Robert Edelman has some concerns with the issue. Fairbury Mayor Robert Walter says the city will make sure everything is done to promote safety and to prevent underage drinking. Several citizens appeared before the Fairbury City Council this week, expressing concerns. Councilman Jack Sinnott told the group that ID’s would be checked and Pro Active police officers will help with law enforcement. Councilman Greg Hish emphasized that it took several meetings to discuss and make a decision and that everyone on the council is concerned with the results of drinking.
