A LaSalle County judge heard a post-conviction motion this week on a high-profile Streator case. Judge H. Chris Ryan spent quite a bit of time hearing a two-part motion by a Chicago lawyer that 45-year-old Eugene Green be granted relief from his August 2000 jury conviction and 35-year sentence for killing his infant son at his Streator home. The merit of the motion will be considered on June 30. Green initially told police his son fell off the couch but later said he was feeding the child when he fell to the floor. The defense wants to have an expert testify that the boy was treated earlier for a brain injury that left one hand impaired, contributing to the child being dropped.
