Halvorson wants to save prison
Halvorson wants to save prison
The top senate democrat has expressed her support for keeping the Pontiac Correctional Center open. Senate Majority Leader Debbie Halvorson is a co-sponsor of a bill that would impose a moratorium on prison closings. Halvorson could help push the issue through the senate, which is controlled mainly by democrats. Details of the proposed moratorium are being released today in Springfield. State Senator Dan Rutherford also supports a moratorium, saying it would stop Governor Blagojevich from randomly closing prisons.
