The Livingston County unemployment rate has once again seen a jump. According to the Illinois Department of Employment Security, last month’s rate was 5.6 percent, compared to 4.5 percent in March 2007. The state says there was an over-the-year gain in non-farm payroll jobs in the Pontiac area, with the largest gains in manufacturing, transportation, and utilities. Unemployment also increased in Bloomington-Normal and Streator. Kankakee and Peoria were among the metro areas with the largest job increases.
