Leaders in Pontiac discussed possible replacements for Mayor Bob Russell at the city council meeting this week.

Russell announced his resignation July 1st, giving the council 60 days to name a new mayor. According to published reports, several possible candidates were discussed in executive session before the regular meeting, and then at length at the end of the meeting. A new mayor will need to be named by August 29th.

Other items discussed during the executive session included personnel issues, a collective negotiating matter and the setting of a price for the sale or lease of city-owned property.

Russell also recognized Pontiac Township High School graduate Kiara Price for her creation of the “Sauce Boss.” Price was named a top innovator of the year for her creation. A sign recognizing Price’s achievement will be placed on the edge of the city.
