Pontiac Parks and Rec Getting Ready for Summertime

By Neil Doyle

Summer is just around the corner and Humiston Riverside Park in Pontiac will be ready with a brand new addition.

Pontiac Parks and Rec Director Taylor Baxter tells WJEZ’s Todd Wineburner the grand opening of the splash pad will take place Saturday, May 25, starting at 11 a.m.

“We’re going to have some speakers there to talk about the project, we’ll have a ribbon cutting, cookout, games for the kids, and different activities. It will be completely free, as it will be all summer and we are just looking forward to celebrate this project which has taken the last two years,” said Baxter.

Baxter said some other events to look out for are park programs, made possible by Pontiac City Council Member Kelly Eckhoff, who obtained a $2500 dollar grant that she donated to parks and recreation.

The programs will run several days throughout the summer and will allow kids to enjoy different activities at parks throughout Pontiac.
