Fatal Accident Near Chatsworth Under Investigation

By Howard Packowitz

Dental records or DNA will be used to positively identify the charred remains of a driver whose car struck a guard rail and burned just north of Chatsworth. That’s the official word from Livingston County Coroner Danny Watson who says the body was burned beyond recognition, making simpler forms of identification impossible. In a news release, Watson said a passerby made the discovery at about 10:10 Monday morning. An autopsy has been ordered.

The burned out 2003 Buick was impaled on the guard rail at the intersection of 3225 East and 1000 North Roads in Charlotte Township in southeastern Livingston County. Authorities believe the fire burned out sometime during the night. The Livingston County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the accident.
