State Representative Tom Bennett (R-Gibson City) is home and recovering after being involved in a car accident last week.
Bennett suffered 10 broken ribs, 6 with multiple breaks, as he was returning to his home in Gibson City from his district office in Pontiac.
“I feel grateful to the first responders who assisted me at the scene and to the doctors and nurses at the OSF Healthcare/St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington who have been helping me to recover,” Bennett said in a prepared statement. “I’m also deeply appreciative to all the friends in the 106th district and my colleagues in the General Assembly that sent me prayers and good wishes over the last few days. “
Bennett has been working from home and says he’ll be back in Springfield soon.
