Pontiac’s Nathan Joerndt has received some national attention lately, but not because of any of the things he’s known for in Livingston County.

Nathan, and other Walmart employees throughout the country, might be out of a job because of changing policies at the retail giant.

Nathan is diagnosed with Williams Syndrome, a disability affecting his motor skills, but his positive energy and outlook have made him a favorite of Livingston County Walmart shoppers over his 18 years with the company as a greeter. Walmart says job descriptions are being re-written, however, and Nathan and others across the country may not meet the standards imposed by the new requirements. The company says the changes are driven by customer feedback.

Nathan Joerndt’s story has been featured on various news outlets throughout the country and there’s a significant base of support in Livingston County as well. A Facebook page called “We Support Nathan Joerndt To Keep His Job As A Walmart Greeter” has thousands of followers.
