The Child Protection Network Needs Your Help

By Neil Doyle with Todd Wineburner

The Child Protection Network is hosting its annual Blue Kid Tree campaign. Unlike holiday toy drives, the annual Blue Kid Tree event asks area residents to contribute practical items that will be used by children and their families throughout the year. The Child Protection Network provides support and assistance to children who are the victims of abuse or neglect.

During a recent interview with WJEZ’s Todd Wineburner, CPN board member Judy Donze explained the kinds of thing that the organization is collecting.

“Things like pillows, blankets, sheets, both men’s and woman’s shampoo, body wash and deodorant…we also look for Walmart gift cards to help families purchase groceries and Casey’s gift cards so they can buy gas to bring kids to counseling appointments,” said Donze.

The Blue Kid Tree is a physical tree located at the Pontiac Area Chamber of Commerce office at 210 North Plum in Pontiac. Donations can be dropped off Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and will be collected until Jan. 1.
