Chenoa Works to Unravel Waste Issues

By A.J. Harris

The current waste management problems were addressed again Monday night in a Chenoa City council meeting, and the results were essentially that the city can keep recycling and using the same recycling bins, but chances are that it will end up at the same place the rest of the garbage goes – the dump.

The Pontiac Daily Leader reported yesterday that during a confusing exchange between Republic Services representative Jim Posey and Mayor Chris Wilder, Posey spoke of cancelling the recycling program but continuing to appear as if the program still existed, so residents would percieve that they are still recycling.

Wilder retorted that it would appear that way, except to anyone attending the meeting or who reads the paper.

Wilder said that there were enough questions regarding Republic Service’s contract that he wanted it further reviewed by City Attorney Steve Mann, according to the paper.
